A
prototype AI, created by Scottish medical imaging company Data Lab and The University
of Glasgow, has been programmed to automatically identify and measure
mesothelioma tumor volume in CT scans which are then used by trained AI
to assess a patient’s response to treatment.
Automating these calculations with accuracy and speed will allow more data
to emerge and ultimately develop new clinical trials for more individualized care.
The remarkable healthcare innovation has the potential to revolutionize
care with more targeted treatment and could also be applied to other cancers
in the future.
