Despite recommendations from doctors to limit depositions of in extremis
mesothelioma plaintiffs, the LA Courts have routinely refused to apply
the six hour limit law. We are not advocating that Defendants not be allowed
to cross examine plaintiffs. We are simply asking the Courts and the Defense
lawyers to follow the law. The law is based on the policy that the Courts
should protect civil litigants with a limited lifespan from being deposed
to death by defense lawyers, who have an economic incentive to avoid trial
settings while the plaintiff is alive.
